Automatic Notification
Each time an issue is inserted or updated, ExtraView performs automatic notification to interested parties. The parties are the users who are part of the workflow defined to process the issue. For example, the originator, the person assinged to handle the issue, and the person who updates the issue will all be automatically notified when any changes are made. As a general default, ExtraView automatically sends email to the person who Originated an issue, the person who is Assigned to the issue, and the person who is selected as the Owner of the issue. These can be altered.
Users can 'Cc:' or copy additional people on a one time basis by using the CC Email field. Options exist to supress the email or to include or exclude guest users associated with the issue. Users can be added to the notification list at any time while updating an issue. In addition to this, ExtraView offers a unique interest list feature where the administrator can create interest lists based on a combination of fields and values. For example, interest lists can be created that follow rules such as 'email john.smith when any critical issue is updated' or 'email kate.green when the module named power_supply is updated.'
HTML Email Format
Email notification is sent in either HTML or text format according to individual user preference. The layout of each email is set via a standard layout within ExtraView. Changed fields are highlighted with color.
